Favre Walking InEvery major news outlet now is reporting that Brett Favre has asked for his release from the Green Bay Packers. Everyone also has their own opinion on this. I think it’s real simple. If he wants to come back he comes back. It’s an incredibly tough decision for everyone involved to deal with. When Brett retired the Packers had to move on. They spent the offseason finally getting Aaron Rodgers ready to play. Further, if Brett does come back it complicates things with Aaron Rodgers and who becomes the future of the Packers. Aaron is certainly going to want a contract going into next year. Being a #1 draft pick and not having any significant playing time going into their second contract is a bummer for him.

I don’t see any possible way the Green Bay Packers don’t let Brett come back. This is a guy who transformed almost every aspect of the city of Green Bay. Gave this city a Super Bowl victory and a new stadium. Not to mention, he enjoyed playing in the small city no other player wants to play in.

The biggest movie of the year hits the big screen tomorrow. Rumors are running rampid that the editing is so poor in the Sex and The City Moviethat you can actually see boom mics in the top of the frame in some scenes. Could this really be true? How could you really not catch this?!? I’d love to see if this is true. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow…

And no, I will not be going to see this.

Guitar Hero has now introduced an XML feed with tons of your data that is not shown on guitarhero.com. I went ahead and took the data to make a simple stylesheet that displays individual song information and some career mode stats. The user rellk on the guitarhero.com forums has taken the stylesheet and coded it into an ASP.NET page.

The stylesheet: http://www.phixation.com/guitarhero3/guitarhero.xsl.txt

The ASP.NET page: http://www.rellik.de/gh.aspx?user=xxxxxx (where xxxxx is your user number)

Apple On Fox
I noticed this on the political tabloid news station Fox today.

The new HTC Mogul (Sprint, PPC-6800) uses Remote NDIS aka RNDIS which means you are no longer able to connect your phone and use it as a modem as you previously were(even though wmmodem.exe is still part of WM6). To use your data connection from the phone in XP it was thought you had to have ActiveSync at least installed. This is not true. ActiveSync is needed to be installed at least once however because it contains a specific hotfix. I have found a way around the need to ever have to go through a ActiveSync installation.

When installing ActiveSync 4.5 it installs Windows XP Hotfix KB909394. This hotfix implements the rndis framework and support drivers. It’s not available anywhere as a standalone download from microsoft, nor is it even mentioned on Microsoft’s Knowledge Base. I have successfully stripped this out of the executable after fighting with it for awhile.

1) Run update\update.exe (You do not need to restart, you can safely check the “Do not restart” box.
2) Start Internet Sharing on your phone, plug it in.
3) If prompted for drivers point it to the folders you extracted rndis_as45_drivers.zip to.

That’s it. Below i’ve hosted the two files for the time being..

Download - Windows XP Hotfix kb909394
Download - ActiveSync RNDIS drivers

Note: From the signs I have gotten from installation logs it appears this hotfix will be included in SP3.
