On September 4th, 2008 I covered the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN. I blogged in real time via Twitter, shot video and took thousands of photographs. Below find my real-time twitter entries along with photos. On day 4, the largest mass arrest took place with police arresting 300 marchers, shoppers and journalists. This brought the total arrests up to almost 900 of the estimated 15,000-20,000 protesters all week combined. In comparison, 1,800 of over 500,000 were arrested in New York in 2004.

04:11 Overheard at Super America..two cops getting gas talking to another pumper “one day to go..we will see what happens tonight..”
04:57 Got totally screwed by traffic. Walking over 35E now and up to capitol. Cameras in hand..

08:15 People are told to go on bridge..everyone is afraid if they do they will be arrested.

Although most people know I am not too thrilled with the elephants, I did cover the RNC. Check out the widely circulated photos I took as well as the video.
As I mentioned about a few days ago, Barack Obama held his rally at the Xcel Energy Center last night. After fighting with almost 40,000 strong in a line about 2 miles long in the heart of downtown St. Paul, It was quite the scene to experience. The Star Tribune reports there were 17,000 strong inside the arena and 15,000 that were not able to get in viewing a jumbotron outside.
Making it all that more exciting, he came out to the crowd like a rock star stating “Tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.”

Today Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will speak at Columbia University as part of the Universities foriegn leaders and history courses. The big three news stations are all covering this lie. The chyrons are:
MSNBC: BREAKING NEWS: “IRANIAN PRESIDENT WILL SPEAK AT COLUMBIA UNIV. ANY MINUTE NOW”
CNN: HAPPENING NOW: “IRANIAN PRESIDENT TO SPEAK AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY SHORTLY”
FOX NEWS: AWAITING CONTROVERSIAL SPEECH FROM IRAN’S PRESIDENT AT COLUMBIA UNIV.”
Fox adds it’s own spin on the story. They feel the need to report the story and also tell us they obviously have their own views on the speech happening. See: Some People Say.
While MSNBC and CNN have chosen to go live with Columbia Univ. President Lee Bollinger, Fox News has chosen to show a split screen. Half showing a muted live shot of the speech and the other half a debate with of whether Osama Bin Laden should be allowed to appear and speak in America as well. Clearly, that comparison is ridiculous. Not only is Osama Bin Laden not a major political leader(or a political leader of any kind for that matter) but he is also a wanted man.
Or does it have more to do with the fact that Fox News is the only national news agency not to be granted an interview itself with the leader? Anderson Cooper for CNN, Brian Williams for NBC, and Mike Wallace for CBS were granted interviews late last year.
Today while I was getting ready for work that stupid bitch Ann Coulter was on the morning show “Fox and Friends.” Apparently, she has a new book out. Well - Fox would lead you to believe so anyways. It’s actually new on paperback. It’s been out for quite awhile now on hard copy. It’s called “How to talk to a liberal. (If you must)”. It truly is amazing how annoying this woman is. There is nothing about her I can stand. She is like one of those ignorant people that no matter what you say they are going to talk over your last sentence with the same thing over and over. There is no changing her mind on anything. Argh, what a way to start off my morning.
Not to mention I am really worried about a friend of mine. I am not quite sure how to handle her these days. I think she has made some decisions that have ruined some things in her life beyond repair. I am not sure that they are my fault. I don’t want to leave her hanging with the big stress she has in her life right now but it’s starting to get too much to worry about her and not have her respect me enough to answer and say “Hey, i’m okay. Thank you for caring”. Ya know?
